Back when I first began reading Homestuck on the advice of a friend in November of last year, I didn’t really know whether I’d continue reading, until WV showed up. He instantly became my favorite character, with his innocent curiosity and his sincerity. For all the stuff he didn’t do quite right (and there was a lot of it; he wasn’t the brightest bulb in the chandelier by any stretch), he was so genuinely, essentially good at heart that I couldn’t help but adore him and want him to succeed.

I grew to love other characters too, and PM even eclipsed him at several points (and still kind of has???? I love her to pieces and could write a whole mess of words about her too), but he’s been my number one Homestuck homeskillet for almost a whole year. He was a character who I felt genuinely deserved a happy ending, because of his sweet and earnest nature and because of all he’d suffered through.

He bled to death on a cold, metal floor with his insides torn apart. He died knowing that everything he’d ever found to live for was never going to come true. He died knowing that he’d failed at last.

Feels bad, man.
